La Pura Medicina

Shipibo Market

In our Shipibo market you will find handicrafts, textiles, clothes, paintings and jewelry from the Shipibo tradition. The Shipibo-Conibo are an indigenous tribe along the Ucayali River in the Amazon rainforest of Peru.
The women of the Shipibo-Conibo tribe in Peru embroider their textiles and clothes with patterns (referred to as kene) of the plant medicine Ayahuasca, as well as various medicinal plants and power animals such as snakes, jaguars and hummingbirds. The Shipibo men carve handicraft such as pipes, maracas or build blowpipes. The Shipibo paintings are also very popular. This visionary art depicts the world of the secred plant medicine Ayahuasca and the plant spirits, power animals, Curanderos (healers) and the Amazon reinforrest.
With your purchase you directly support Shipibo families of the Shipibo community in Yarinacocha (Pucallpa, Peru).
